Poland's Reference Rates Screensaver

The Poland's Reference Rates screensaver shows the National Bank of Poland's table A: one official rate per currency against the złoty, published each working day. These are not market quotes and do not move intraday — they are the reference rates used across Poland for accounting, customs and contracts. It runs in the browser with nothing to install; press ESC to exit.

How the Poland's Reference Rates screensaver works

The saver reads The NBP public API, which publishes table A each working day.

No account and no key: the request goes straight from your browser, or from this site's own refreshed copy of the feed where the source does not allow browser access.

Values are drawn on a canvas that resizes with the window, so it works on a laptop or a wall display.

If the source is unreachable the saver says so on screen rather than showing stale numbers as though they were current.

A worked example

Sixteen currencies ranked by how many złoty one unit buys, each with its code, name and rate to four decimal places. The effective date is the honest answer to when this was true: weekends and Polish public holidays have no table, so the API returns the last one published and the saver shows its date rather than today's.

Frequently asked questions

Why do these rates not move during the day?
Because they are not market quotes. The NBP fixes one reference rate per currency each working day for official and accounting use; the interbank market moves continuously, but this table does not.
What is table A?
The NBP publishes several tables. Table A holds the average rates for convertible currencies and is the one used for most official purposes. Table B covers less common currencies and table C gives buy and sell rates.
Is this real data?
Yes. It comes from The NBP public API, which publishes table A each working day. Nothing is invented or simulated, and if the source cannot be reached the saver reports that instead of drawing something plausible.
Does it cost anything or need an account?
No. Every screensaver here is free, runs in the browser and needs no sign-up. This one uses a public API that requires no key.
