Registered In Norway Today Screensaver
The Registered In Norway Today screensaver streams new entries in the Norwegian business register as they are made: company name, legal form and the municipality that will collect the tax. Most days it is a long tail of sole proprietorships with the occasional limited company or foreign branch. It runs in the browser with nothing to install; press ESC to exit.
How the Registered In Norway Today screensaver works
The saver reads Brønnøysundregistrene, Norway's open business register.
No account and no key: the request goes straight from your browser, or from this site's own refreshed copy of the feed where the source does not allow browser access.
Values are drawn on a canvas that resizes with the window, so it works on a laptop or a wall display.
If the source is unreachable the saver says so on screen rather than showing stale numbers as though they were current.
A worked example
Each row names a company, its legal form spelled out, and the town it is registered in, with the form code and registration date on the right. ENK is a sole proprietorship, AS a limited company, NUF the Norwegian branch of a foreign firm. It is one of the most direct readouts of economic activity available anywhere for free: not a survey or an index, just the actual list.

Frequently asked questions
- What do ENK, AS and NUF mean?
- ENK is enkeltpersonforetak, a sole proprietorship. AS is aksjeselskap, the standard limited company. NUF is a Norwegian-registered branch of a company incorporated abroad.
- Why are there so many sole proprietorships?
- Because registering one in Norway is cheap and fast, so freelancers and small traders use them heavily. Limited companies require share capital and appear far less often.
- Is this real data?
- Yes. It comes from Brønnøysundregistrene, Norway's open business register. Nothing is invented or simulated, and if the source cannot be reached the saver reports that instead of drawing something plausible.
- Does it cost anything or need an account?
- No. Every screensaver here is free, runs in the browser and needs no sign-up. This one uses a public API that requires no key.
