New Token Listings Screensaver
The New Token Listings screensaver watches CoinGecko's top 250 coins by market cap live and flags any coin that wasn't there before, drawn key-less with no third-party listings API. It's free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.
How the New Token Listings screensaver works
The saver fetches CoinGecko's real top 250 coins by market cap, with no key required.
Your browser remembers which ids it has already seen, stored locally on your device.
Any id that's new since the last check scrolls onto the feed as a genuine new entrant.
The first run establishes a real baseline and shows nothing until the next check finds something new.
A worked example
A little while after opening the saver, a coin's name scrolls in — the real moment it broke into CoinGecko's top 250 by market cap, not a delayed news report.
Settings & tips
- Accent recolours the feed entries.
- The very first run shows nothing new by design — it's building its baseline.
- This tracks the top 250 by market cap, not every token ever created — CoinGecko's full ~18,000-coin list is too rate-limited for a reliable live client-side feed.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does it show nothing at first?
- It needs a real baseline of what's already in the top 250 before it can flag anything as genuinely new — that's by design, not a bug.
- Is a key needed?
- No. CoinGecko's public markets endpoint is free and key-less.
- Does this catch every brand-new token?
- No — only coins that break into the top 250 by market cap. CoinGecko's full coin list is rate-limited too tightly for a reliable live feed.
- Is it free?
- Yes — free, no download, in your browser.
