Cloud Cover Screensaver
The Cloud Cover screensaver is a live world map shaded by how cloudy each major city is right now — clear to overcast — from the key-less Open-Meteo API, with cloud puffs drifting through. It's free, runs in your browser, and ESC exits.
How the Cloud Cover screensaver works
The saver asks Open-Meteo for the current cloud cover at a built-in list of major world cities, including Toronto, Vancouver, Montréal and Calgary.
Each city glows on a world map: cyan where the sky is clear, fading to pale grey-white where it's overcast.
Soft cloud puffs drift across the map for atmosphere, while the city dots carry the real readings.
It refreshes every few minutes so the map tracks the clouds rolling in and clearing through the day.
A worked example
On a settled day you'll see clear cyan over a high-pressure region while a passing front greys out cities under thick cloud — the legend running from clear to overcast as puffs drift west to east.
